Well this is the final day of the first summit and I would like this chance to thank all who made this possible. What an enjoyable three days it has been.
Jim Hardy started at breakfast talking about how technology helps us confirm the changes we make to a student’s swing rather than relying on it. We should embrace the vast amount of training aids which are available on the market, but we shouldn't remove ourselves from our mission statement: "the sole purpose of the golf swing is correct repetitive impact, the method employed is of NO significance as long as it is repetitive." We are here to help our students hit the ball better first and foremost.
We then had a panel discussion, of which I was pleased to be asked to join, about what challenges we as Level 1 instructors have found, how we would like to see the certification program improved, and what would we like to see in the future. Personally I would like to see the the Plane Truth program grow in Europe and for there to be Level 1 Instructors in every country across Europe.
After a short break we had a presentation from TOMI, putting with perfection. Rick Gorbell gave us a great insight of what the TOMI can do at a very reasonable price. We found that putting differs from the full swing in many ways. The data that these guys presented really answered a lot on questions on different ways to putt, how to custom fit putters, and how we can help people with the yips. One of the things that was great was Rick agreed with our mission statement. He said that when a player is putting his/her best, then that is the time to record the data. Then, when the player is putting poorly, you can use that data and work on the TOMI system to get it back to the way it was.
The summit was rounded off with an emotional lunch with everybody exchanging numbers and business cards followed by huge praise directed towards Jim Hardy, Mike Crisanti, Chris O'Connell, Mike and Sandy LaBauve and EJ Pfister. Also thanks to Marty Fleckman and Jennifer Burdette from Blackhorse Golf Club and Tina Giampaolo from the Plane Truth for putting on an amazing learning experience for us. We all look forward to the next one.
My own thanks go to all the above and again to Mike Crisanti and Chris O'Connell for allowing me to do this blog and always answering my many questions. Also, to Mike and Sandy LaBauve for all their encouragement and teaching. To Martin Hall for his motivation. To all the other attendees for listening to me, helping me out and being part of Plane Truth family. To all the speakers and presenters and last, but no means least, to Jim Hardy for being well......awesome!
Until next year, take care, play well, and have fun!
