Video Analysis Tutorials - Two Plane from Down the Line

Posted By: Jim Hardy on 2/9/2010

In our second installment of our four part series of tutorials on video-based analysis, we look at the Two Plane swing from Down the Line.  While the majority of our readers are working to be One Planers, we still feel the Two Plane swing is also a very correct way to swing a club.  Even if you are an aspiring One Planer, we encourage you to watch this because it will also help you better understand the differences between the two swings.

In this look at a Two Plane swing, we use Scott Hoch as our model.  Like Scott McCarron for the One Plane swing, this swing demonstrates a lot of the key characteristics of a pure two plane swing but also may have some unusual compensating moves.  Remember….the biggest key is having a swing that produces a correct, repetitive impact and therefore, a correct ball flight.

This is a rather large file and is about 10 minutes long.  If you are on a slow internet connection, please give the video time to load.

    • I caddied for Scott Hoch for 4 years and he was probably the best iron players i have ever seen in the game. What is the reason for his awesome iron play and wedge play, and would a one planer be as accurate as he.
