Smitty, that's an interesting drill, and I will try it tomorrow. I understand what the drill is trying to accomplish after watching the DVD on "How the Hips Work in the Golf Swing". A few days after watching the DVD, I had the opportunity to play Whistling Straits (end of August after the PGA) and I tried to incorporate the concepts in my round there. Big mistake....should never try to implement something new in a situation like that. I was playing golf swing, not playing golf. Anyway, it is a great DVD and your drill should be a good adjunct. Thanks!

This is excellent clarification and has made a massive difference to my ball striking . I struggled with implementing ' the bump ' transition move as per the book but it clicked instantly with this tip - top work!! Dave 5hcp

Mr. O'Connel, I'm a long time lurker since about 2006 (I have the Master class book and some of the DVD's) but very rarely post. I'm left handed, play golf right handed, a 7 handicap with thins & pulls as my typical misses. I'd be very grateful if you'd provide some input;

The hardest thing I've had to overcome is losing my spine angle going back and then thrusting my hips coming through. I've completely overcome this from your blog posts about Matt Kuchar. Wonderful stuff! Thankyou. Anyway, I'm using my hips slightly differently than you describe in this thread, I pull my back right pant pocket towards the target going back and then pull my right pant pocket away from the target coming through. If I pull (rotate) my left pant pocket, hip, thigh, knee, I tend to also pull my pelvis forward toward the ball. I don't know if this because of tight hip flexors or what but if I pull my right pant pocket away from the target, my hips rotate without my pelvis ever moving towards the ball, my weight still goes left, (I'm very much on my left leg at impact) it's very easy to stay on the inner circle & I'm striking the ball wonderfully. Is there something I'm missing that would limit potential improvement by doing this, should I concetrate on initiating the downswing more with my left side as you describe in this thread, or am I ok doing what I'm doing? Thanks much in advance for any insight.

Regards,
Bob
