    I have been a professional golfer for many years,struggling away on the mini tours.recently i changed my swing to teh One Plane,and it was the best move i made.I feel its pwerful,and easy to repeat,Jim Hardys explanation of the move is so easy to understand and makes so much sense.

    Now to the short game...I practice this 2 to 3 hours most days.I am looking to find some expertadvise on this matter.I want to know if a player like myself can get their short game to be world class,i mean matching tour standard.

    Many Pros say the short game has nothing to do with natural talent,so how do i go about getting great at it.
    Is it about having a good technique,then spending all day at it.A coach told me,the top players practice it 3 hours a day on average,so i should work 5 hours a day at it to catch them up.

    So if i was to spend all day ut there around the green,would i become a great short game player.

    Any experts on this matter,please tell me your thoughts.It would help me so much

    thnak you very much for your time

    I would get some private instruction from the following –

    Putting:
    Mark Sweeney –
    <!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 0 1 15 89 Home Use 1 1 109 11.1287 0 0 0 <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Times New Roman"; panose-1:0 2 2 6 3 5 4 5 2 3; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:50331648 0 0 0 1 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-parent:""; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> <!--StartFragment-->

    Chipping and Pitching –
    Mike LaBauve –
    <!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 0 1 35 204 Home Use 1 1 250 11.1287 0 0 0 <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Times New Roman"; panose-1:0 2 2 6 3 5 4 5 2 3; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:50331648 0 0 0 1 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-parent:""; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> <!--StartFragment-->

    Then practice what they teach you.

    David - Where in Europe are you?  We've got three certified instructors over there.  All of them were taught their short game methods by Mike LaBauve.  Mike normally does the short game portion of our certification seminars and his and Jim's teachings on short game are very similar.

    I've also heard the debate on whether or not short game is talent or effort.  I believe it is a combination of both.  There is definitely talent involved.  However, most can get their short game good enough to compete through repetition.  I will also say good technique has a LOT to do with this.  Practicing the right mechanics that result in the most consistent contact will make you better, faster.  Flawed mechanics make it that much harder (and that much more reliant on talent) to achieve the same levels of success.

    I am based in Austria from April - October where im  pro at a club there,where i coach and play.
    During the other months im in Thailand practicing.Im here right now working on my game.
    Thanks for the advise you gave me,I agree if you have sound technique,it makes it easier to improve quicker.
    Im just still trying to figure out what techniques for me,[after 20 years trying]

    I am a one swinger which Jim Hardy tought me last year,after i had been way too steep,and since going to that method,I understand my long game better,and find it a lot easier to stay on plane.

    But the short game is where i want to get hot.I read Phil Mickelsons book secrets of the short game,tried out the pitching action,was ok,then today watched the video of Stan Utley,which i found very interesting,which is a different move,so tomorrow its up the range to try that move.

    Its quite funny,In my office in Austria i have a picture on the wall of a male golfer,hes standing their with his clubs scattered all over the range,dozens of golf instruction books open lying on the ground,and all the training devises you can imagine.Theres a 60 mile an hour gust blowing into his face,and hes throwing the grass into the air to test the wind direction...

    I tell my members,dont get like this guy,dont get to much into mechanics,try and enjoy the game.

    Im starting to think im getting that way,,,any way cant give up,still got another 7 years until seniors tour...

    If I would have known, hey we need a certified instructor in continental Europe, is a matter of urgency Someone who does not molest you with 2p style armsy takeaways, pump drills and blocking hips, I went through all of it and just in the very recent months i've learned how to hit a ball, after many years of... funky stuff. My biggest mistake was to not take all the imagery of JH directly as he have shown it and to put the materials aside (even if it will look different, but it all should feel like he shows it, IMO). I've practiced the whole winter two parts in takeaway and down swing, now I am dreaming that this evil white stuff goes away and I can spend my time in the deepest practice bunker we have (really, I am already in that bunker every night ).
