Level 1 - Core Basics

Instructor Certification: Level 1 - Core Basic

In this introductory course, the instructor will be educated on the core concepts on both the 1 and 2 plane swing systems and the Plane Truth +’s and –‘s Impact System.
The course will look at all 15 ball flights faults from both the impact and swing shape perspectives. It will also look at basics of the short game, provide basic video analysis training, reveal effective drills and training aids, and introduce the Plane Truth 7 Step Lesson Protocol.

In this first div of the program, we will conduct a complete examination of the +’s & -‘s of impact. The system of +’s and –‘s is one of the critical foundations for our teaching program. It relates to everything you will learn – both with regard to impact/ball flight as well as swing shape (mechanics). In this div, we will also talk about other important terminology including the “plane” of a golf swing as well as the elements of impact.

During this segment, we will take a look at the 15 major ball flight faults from an impact perspective. You will learn the terminology and characteristics we use to describe the behavior of the ball for each impact condition. We will briefly talk about some common potential causes and corrections for each of the 15 ball flights. We will delve into deeper discussions on these causes and corrections later in the course.

This portion of the course begins to look at our paradigm for analyzing and understanding the mechanics of the golf swing. When we use the term “Swing Shape” we are simply referring to information that describes a component or motion of the golf swing. In this div, we will study the correct body and arm / club movements of both the 1 and 2 plane swings. We will also look at the most common associated faults in the Address, Backswing, Downswing, and Impact & Follow Through.

During this phase of the course, we will look at the 15 ball flight misses and focus on the most common faults that cause them. We will then discuss the ways to correct these. We will address these faults and corrections for both 1 and 2 plane swings.

This div will cover the basics of conducting an analysis of the golf swing using video analysis software. We will cover the basic analysis of both a 1 or 2 plane swing on video and the important lines to draw for both swings. We will use examples of a wide range of subjects and show the correct process for diagnosing swing shape issues.

The course will look at all 15 ball flights faults from both the impact and swing shape perspectives. It will also look at basics of the short game, provide basic video analysis training, reveal effective drills and training aids, and introduce the Plane Truth 7 Step Lesson Protocol.

In this div, we conduct analysis of various swings from amateur golfers. All 4 Impact/Ball Flight scenarios will be studied. We will review swings where impact and ball flight either equals the swing shape or impact and ball flight are opposite of the swing shape.

In this div, we begin to get into applying what you learn. This div will help you understand and sort through the most critical elements in a golf swing. We will also look at commonly seen fault combinations.

A presentation of important drills and teaching aids used for success in both 1 and 2 plane swings.

During this segment, we will walk through our 7 step lesson protocol. We will review and discuss each step followed by Jim Hardy implementing them via instructing golfers in live lessons.

We will review the key teaching points in the major short game areas – putting, chipping & pitching, and bunkers.

One of the most important aspects of being an effective instructor is to be able to understand and feel the concepts you teach your students. This div provides practice range time to implement what you have learned by hitting balls yourself or working with Jim and your colleagues.
